Classic Stage Company has announced its 2014-2015 season. It will include Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Allegro, Peter Sarsgaard starring in Shakespeare’s Hamlet and Chris Noth headlining Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus.
Allegro will kick off the season in October. Directed by John Doyle, it was Richard Rodgers’ and Oscar Hammerstein II’s third collaboration and first premiered on Broadway in 1947.
Hamlet will begin performances in January. Sarsgaard has previously starred at CSC in Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya and Three Sisters, both featuring his wife Maggie Gyllenhaal. His screen credits include Blue Jasmine, Lovelace, Kinsey, Shattered Glass, Boys Don’t Cry and Garden State. The production’s director and additional casting will be announced in due course.
The season will conclude in April with Chris Noth starring in Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus, directed by Andrei Belgrader. Noth recently starred in the Broadway revival of That Championship Season. His screen credits include The Good Wife, Law & Order and Sex and the City.
